How to Price a Digital Product: A Simple Framework

Pricing is a guess you improve with data. Start with a framework, then adjust.

1. Anchor on the buyer's outcome

What does the product save in time or money? If a template saves two hours of work, a price under the value of two hours is an easy decision.

2. Check the alternatives

Look at free options, competing paid products, and the cost of doing it by hand. Position yourself clearly against each, and do not assume cheaper is always better. Very low prices can signal low quality.

3. Use simple price points

For small digital products, $9, $19, $29, $49 are common tiers. Pick one, state it on the page, and show it before checkout.

4. Offer a clear refund

A 14-day refund policy lowers risk for buyers and costs little if the product is honest about what it contains.

5. Test one change at a time

Change the price, wait for enough visits to learn something, and compare. Changing the price, headline, and audience together tells you nothing.
